Mind Numbing Quiet
So earlier today I got of the phone with one of the employees of my ex-company. Sounds so much like a bad relationship but I assure it was not. At any rate he asked me a couple a question about a phone issue he was having. I asked him if he was working. He said “yes, I finally took a lunch”. I could hear from the apprehension in his voice that he wasn’t having the day he wanted. He then told me a story I hear all too often. “Trust me I’m busting my ass all day I dont know what I’m doing wrong!” After listening to this the diagnosis is in the problem. I know plenty of times I have had my ass kicked after a day and sat down and said the same thing. The answer is really simple, the problem is that he is thinking. After a certain point in sales you develop a sort of muscle memory for what you do and say, its what gives the best salesmen their edge time and time again. At this point I know that this person needs nothing more than to silence his mind and just keep pushing. Once then next yes comes its funny how we forget how we felt prior to that. The truth is the best way to make sales is to just be you and if you are thinking to hard its too easy to forget to add yourself to the conversation.
