I’m in Miami….
Have you ever walked with a limp like an old school pimp? No? it’s a shame. I was listening to that song by lmfao, it made me think of what I was going to talk about. I’m not in Miami though, or I guess around these parts it says the bay, personally I think Miami sounds better. So if you can’t tell this is going to be all about confidence. It is super easy to mix up confidence and arrogance, I know because I erred on the side of cockiness for far too long. However if you are just starting out in sales err on the side of cockiness it will take you places. I know that sounds bad but to be honest your skills are… well… not really existent yet. At least you haven’t really discovered them yet. I think the most uncomfortable I have ever been was my first day walking into a sales company, I thought oh shit what have I gotten myself into. People were saying things like close me, fear of loss, and all these other words I knew nothing about. I soon realized that the easiest way to gain confidence in any new environment was to throw myself into it and start asking questions. So I would ask people what does that mean, how do you do that, etc… a few weeks later I felt confident I knew what they were talking about. Then I did my first presentation in front a customer oh wow! I think I reintroduced myself 5 times while presenting. Thankfully I had a trainer behind me to help me. It was through these experiences I learned in order to have confidence in a situation you have to step outside of what is comfortable. You may feel awkward at first but you will adjust quickly and be able to do all the things in that realm you couldn’t before. food for though: Jimmy Dean breakfast sausages are incredible!
